organic cotton

We work with organic cotton, fairly produced in Turkey and India.  But why should it be important to buy organic cotton products?

Each saison, the conventionally grown cotton crop is sprayed up to 25 times with pestizides and other chemicals, among them  chemical defolients and formaldehyd.

About 10.000 people die each year from consequences of incidents with pesticides in cotton cultivation.

About 40% of the cotton fiber is already produced from genetically transformed cotton plants.

Conventional Cotton is often grown in hot, underdeveloped coutries which are using ineffective irrigation systems. That causes a consume of  300 Billion liters of water yearly. That is four times the basic need of water for the  whole world population.

Cotton is one of the most delicate crops that is produced. An incredible amount of toxic chemicals are used in the production prozess, beginning from the cultivation of the plant up to the finished garment. These toxics are causing the death of thousands of people each year, are polluting soil, water and air and are partly staying  in the fabrics even after washing, causing allergies and health problems to the people who wear the fabrics.
